Old NRC Building at the Town Basin

Interesting survey that was completed over the past four weeks, it showed that the peoples choice is to turn the Old NRC building at the town basin into a hotel or something like that.

The final results were; 33% out of the 63 votes want it turned into a hotel; 17% wanted it turned into something else; 16% wanted it turned into a Hundertwasser; surprising 22% wanted the building ripped down with half wanting it to be parking and the other half wanted it to be green space; 10% wanted it turned into an Art Museum; 2% wanted it preserved as a historic building.

So what do the results show... If the people were given the choice a third of the voting public would choose to have the Old NRC building turned into a hotel, now this construction work could be done by the Council but it would probably cost approx $3 to $4 million, so it would be better handing the project to someone else with the council leasing the property... Interesting enough though 22% of the people wanted to rip the building down, this would approx cost $0.5 to $1 million to do...

The final choice is up to the voting public, not those that we have voted into positions to run our community.  The choices that they make can be challenged, but only if the community have a voice, and are prepared to use that voice.

So what do you want?
